Wind is the word

Today we had another great day. It is very nice and I am sure boring because I haven't had to mention a bad day yet. To me this is sweet bliss. Here is what our  Today's Goals we did today! We ended out starting our day way later then we start but we were successful in it needless to say!

Today in our creation study we learned about wind. We read scripture on how God made wind. We learned in Psalm 78:26 that God let east wind loose from heavens and led Fourth to south wind by his power. We learned that when God spoke it would stir up violent storms. Psalm 107:25.

John 3:8 says The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound but can not tell where it comes from or where it is going.

We also talked about how when Jesus was on the boat is was sinking do to big storm. Jesus was sleeping when a storm stirred up and  his disciples woke him to tell him they were sinking. Jesus got up and said he rebuked the wind and raging waters. The storm subsided and all became calm. Luke 8: 23 and 24.

In this study the kids got to make there own sail boats. It is amazing what a picnic cup, straw, tape and construction paper can turn into. Well it isn't a long boat it is a round boat. But the kids are so proud.

Today for art instruction we did the girls Van Gogh lap books. The learned what impasto painting is. For those who do not know like us. It is texture under the paint weather it is the paint laid on thickly or mixing something  and putting it on the canvas then painting. The girls tore toilet paper into small pieces and added glue and made a goopy mixture then brushed it on there paper they are using for there canvas. It is really a kinda neat.

Jon-Jon is teaching himself to draw by following the Learning to Draw  website. We have been on him for years about not pressing so hard as you write. Do to it hurts your hand and tires your hand as well. Today he comes up to me and says I learned something new. I said oh really what is that. He said I learned you shouldn't push down on the pencil to draw.  My reaction in my head was to look cross eyed at him but I was a good Mom and said that is awesome but does it sound familiar?! Jon-Jon said laughing " I know mom that's why I was sharing it with you" Hey as mom I am thrilled he is actually reading and understanding the instruction!                   Before paint
                                                                 With color not finished
We got to See Pawpee and Granny (Thomas's dad and mom). Sunday was Granny's birthday. They were in town for Pawpee had some doctors appointments at the VA hospital. The kids helped me make a lemon glazed cake. The girls have a thing for the candy sprinklers so she had a colorful cake. The had fun helping in making the cake and also eating it with Granny. We are so thankful for being able to see them even if it was for about an hour!

We are looking forward to tomorrow and having another great day and to see what hurdles we will have to go through!!

Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile. Mother Teresa
