One of our non-profit partners, Reading
Is Fundamental (RIF) needs your HELP!
On February 1, President Obama released
his FY11 budget request which eliminates
the funding for Reading Is Fundamental
and its nationwide services. Without
federal funding, more than 4.4 million
children and families will not receive
free books or reading encouragement
from RIF programs. (see RIF's note below)
We have received tremendous support since we
launched our Reinstate RIF's Funding Campaign.
Thank you all for sending letters to your congressional
members in the House of Representatives. As of February 28,
we have 28 House representatives signed on to our
Dear Colleague letter in support of RIF's funding, with
more to come. View a list of current signers.
The House's deadline to sign the letter is March 5,
so if your congressional member has not signed,
please send a reminder message. It only takes a
couple of minutes. We will be starting our outreach to
the Senate soon, and you will have an opportunity to send
your senators a message asking them to sign on in support
of RIF's funding.
Please forward this message to your friends, colleagues,
and contacts encouraging them to send a message as well.
Also, spread the word on Facebook, Twitter, blogs or any other
social networks to which you belong. Remember, your voice is
the most important resource we have to make sure Congress
reinstates RIF's funding.
